PM Mitsotakis tours Athens Central Vegetable Market in Rentis

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Tuesday toured the Central Vegetable Market of Athens in Rentis, where he talked with producers and wholesale traders about the challenges that have emerged due to the global energy crisis, the Russian invasion of Ukraine (taking into account that both countries are two of the largest exporters of food and animal feed) and the successive cold fronts that have damaged many crops, as well as the issue of rising prices in the market and its repercussions on consumers.

The producers and traders noted that they hope things will improve in the coming months as they expect a very good tourism season, given that the central market traders are the main suppliers of hotels and restaurants.

Mistotakis was very interested in Greek production and its contribution to the market receiving the answer that almost 70 percent of the goods are of domestic production while many Greek products are known abroad due to their high quality.

According to sources, the producers and traders reassured Mitsotakis that currently there are no problems with the supply of fruits and vegetables.
