Migrants killed in car accident on Egnatia Odos
Three persons were killed and seven were injured in a car accident early on Wednesday on Egnatia Odos, a few kilometres off the city of Alexandroupolis.
According to Athens-Macedonian News Agency sources, a car with Italian plates carrying undocumented migrants swerved off the road resulting in the death of two men and the fatal injury of a woman, who died while she was being operated on at the University Hospital of Evros.
A fourth person was seriously injured and is also being operated on, while two children were injured but out of danger, the doctors said.
The trafficker driving the car attempted to flee, one of the injured testified.
Police are conducting an investigation.
