High speed Silver Arrow train goes on test run

The new "Silver Arrow" fast speed train, that reaches speed of up to 250 kilometers per hour, went on a test run in Thessaloniki on Saturday, travelling to nearby Katerini.

The train has been chosen by Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane (FSI), the company that operates Greece's TRAINOSE.

Deputy Transport Minister Nikos Mavraganis said the Silver Arrow train will be used on the improved Athens-Thessaloniki link that will be ready by the end of the year and will complete the journey in 3.5 hours, down from more than five hours currently.
