PM Tsipras on Polytechnic Uprising: November reminds us that 'nothing is impossible'

Forty-five years after the students rose up against the junta ruling in 1973, in what came to be known as the Polytechnic Uprising, the month of November continues to "move and inspire us," Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said on Saturday, in a message marking the anniversary of November 17.

PM Tsipras on Polytechnic Uprising: November reminds us that 'nothing is impossible'

"It reminds us that nothing is given but also that nothing is impossible. It also charges us with the responsibility to keep our ears open to the needs and concerns of the younger generation of this country, which has always been on the front line of the major changes that lead forward," Tsipras said.

It was a time to remember, draw inspiration and press on with solidarity, unity and determination, the prime minister added, joining the new struggles against neoliberal absolutism, fascism and those nostalgic for the junta, the far right in Greece and Europe.

"For a Greece without memorandums and surveillance. For equitable growth that puts the people who work and create at the forefront. For more democracy, independence, social justice and a better tomorrow for the young and for our people," he said.
