SYRIZA's Iliopoulos blames government for price spike
SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance spokesperson Nassos Iliopoulos blamed the government for the price spike in an interview with KRITI TV, saying that "it is a political choice of the government to cover profeetiring instead of protecting the citizens."
Iliopoulos referred to a study by the Institute of Small Enterprises of GSEVEE, according to which "the income of a 50 pct of households is not sufficient to meet their monthly needs. We are now back in a situation where, not only the most vulnerable ones, but the vast majority of citizens are facing conditions of economic suffocation."
"The situation we are facing today did not start with the war in Ukraine. Greece has a negative record in the wholesale price of electricity since November. There are a number of central political choices of the New Democracy government that have brought us here, such as the violent phasing out of lignite or the fact that - under the responsibility of the government - Greece is the only eurozone country that has a minimum salary lower than in 2010."
