Labour and Social Security Minister Niki Kerameus on Friday said that Greece has a lower unemployment rate than Sweden, Estonia, Finland, and Spain, following the new reduction of unemployment to 8.3 percent in April 2025.

Specifically, in a post on social media, Kerameus noted a further significant drop in unemployment from 10.8 percent in April 2024 to 8.3 percent in April 2025, according to a Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) report.

As she pointed out, this is the lowest unemployment rate in the last 17 years, and Greece now has a lower unemployment rate than Sweden, Estonia, Finland, and Spain.

"Our collective efforts are yielding results. We are actively continuing policies that boost employment, reduce unemployment, and encourage the return of Greeks from abroad. Our next initiative is tomorrow, Saturday: a ‘Career Day’ in Stuttgart, with over 1,000 job opportunities offered in Greece," she said.
