Androulakis meets with representatives of productive and social institutions
Main opposition PASOK-Movement for Change leader Nikos Androulakis on Tuesday met with representatives of productive and social institutions ahead of his speech at the 89th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) on Saturday.
"The Thessaloniki International Fair usually turns into a marketplace of promises and handouts from the government of the day, with its gaze fixed on the ballot box and opinion polls. I believe that at some point this tradition must come to an end, and instead it should be an opportunity for dialogue, discussion, as well as the presentation of a comprehensive plan that will make our country more economically competitive, more socially resilient, and stronger geopolitically."
Androulakis pledged that on Saturday evening PASOK will present such a comprehensive plan that will give prospects to all Greeks and put the country back on the path of convergence.
"Our homeland went through a decade of economic hardship, social inequalities increased, and the Greek people expected better days. Instead, we see inequalities continuing to grow, the cost of living escalating, and production costs reaching prohibitive levels, leading to a deficit in competitiveness," he stressed.
He added that the result is the absence of clear answers and only piecemeal management, which recently took shape in a speech devoid of answers and a coherent plan.
"We invited you here today because dialogue with people from the market, labour, and production sectors is a key element of politics—so that we can exchange views in order to find the best solutions, ones that can create the Greece of tomorrow: a Greece at the centre of European developments, a Greece that makes the best possible use of opportunities and the wealth of European programmes. How we can, together, build the Greece of the future," Androulakis underlined.
“We can, with political change, design the future of our country and our people with credibility, responsibility, seriousness, and a progressive orientation," he added.
