Amphipolis: Two Caryatids inside the tomb

The continued excavations at the ancient tomb of Amphipolis in Amphipolis have uncovered two Caryatids.

The Caryatids, made of marble from the island of Thasos, have long, thick hair covering their shoulders and are wearing a sleeved tunic.

Archaeologists say the existence of Caryatids around the entrance to the second chamber suggest the tomb is an important monument.
