The key for a mutually acceptable solution on Cyprus lies in the hands of Guterres
The Conference on the Cyprus issue will continue for a ninth day in Crans Montana, Switzerland, with all eyes turned to UN secretary general Antonio Guterres who is expected to arrive at 11 am.
There are still great differences and the key for a mutually acceptable and sustainable solution is now to the hands of Guterres.
Meanwhile, the proposals of Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias for the abolition of the guarantees and the withdrawal of the Turkish troops were faced with opposition.
Kotzias also reiterated the "the need for a concrete negotiation on the implementation and control mechanism for the troops and their withdrawal" expressing the hope that today will be a better day with the contribution of the UN secretary general.
