Four Turkish nationals handed three month suspended sentences
A Greek court sentenced on Friday four Turkish nationals caught in a restricted area on the Greek Turkish border with a three month suspended jail sentence.
The four Turks were intercepted Thursday afternoon in an area between Sofiko and Rigios, near Orestiada, and were arrested as they did not have a permit to enter Greece.
Two of them said they were journalists who entered Greece to cover the story about the Turkish mother and her three children, who have been missing since the boat they were using to cross the river Evros capsized with a total of nine passengers on board. The other two arrested said they were friends of the missing family and had accompanied the journalists.
The four nationals, who did not have any criminal record, were then released.
