Gov't switching required business paperwork to online tax platform on test basis
The Finance Ministry will test run the input of all business and freelance finances directly to the electronic tax database, doing away with physical book-keeping, in the last quarter of 2019, officials said on Thursday.
At a press conference, Finance Minister Christos Staikouras, Deputy Minister for taxes and state assets Apostolos Vesyropoulos and head of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) Giorgos Pitsilis said that the process would go fully online as of 2020.
This would reduce administrative costs for businesses, do away with the required annual lists of suppliers and clients filed with tax services, and accelerate the return of taxes to businesses, Staikouras said. The measure is targeting tax evasion, he said.
The new system was posted for public consultation on the AADE's page as myDATA, or Digital Accounting and Tax Application. The consultation will be available until September 6, 2019, and comments may be sent to mydata.comments@aade.gr, the revenue authority said.
