Mitsotakis: The law in Greece will apply to everyone
"Greece in 2012 was ranked 94th in international transparency, in 2015 it was 58th and again in 2018 it was 67th. These are the works and days of the SYRIZA government with figures...." Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Friday in the parliament.
"The law in this country will apply to everyone, whether they are strong or weak," the prime minister said, and added:
"In the European Commission's fourth report, which was published a few days ago, both the European Anti-Corruption Agency and Greco denounced you for turning bribery into a simple misdemeanor instead of a serious crime. Didn't you know this? Was this done without your knowledge? This is what we are correcting with the penal code. And we are doing so based on a recommendation of the legislative committee. Be careful when you talk of 'white collars', they can be soiled and not wear ties."
