Petsas: If we are all consistent there will be no need to extend the lockdown
"The problem is not the epidemiological burden in the schools. All the experts say that the transmission in schools is not a problem but the problem is the mobilisation of the adults, namely the parents and the grandparents ", government spokesman Stelios Petsas said in an interview with ANT1 on Saturday.
"We want to reduce the mobilisation because it breeds the virus and we hope that with these measures and with the curfew we will reach the number of mobilisations that we saw in April in order to faster reduce the incidents" he added.
He also said that next week will be difficult with two contradictory characteristics as on one hand there will be high pressure to the Health System due to last days increased number of incidents and on the other hand there will be a reduction of the infections due to the lockdown. "If we are all consistent there will be no need to extend the lockdown or any other restriction" he said adding that the government's aim is to have strict observation of the measures in the next 7-10 days in order to lift the lockdown on time and not to extend it".
Οn the vaccination of the population he stated that until the end of the second quarter of 202 we will have roughly 25 million vaccines, so we will be able to vaccinate the entire population. "If we have the vaccine in early 2021 and as it appears we will have it, we will start the vaccination of the medical and nursing staff and of the vulnerable groups and afterwards of the rest of the population.
