Tsipras chooses the tactics of division and disorientation, gov't spokesperson Tarantilis says
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited on Saturday the remote islands of Fourni, Thymena and Ikaria in order to see the progress made in the unfolding national vaccinations programme, to discuss the local problems and to promote development projects, government spokesman Christos Tarantilis said on Sunday in reply to main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Alexis Tsipras' post on Instagram earlier in the day.
His post about the violation of the health measures on the part of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis during a short meal offered to him by a New Democracy MP in Samos, professor of cardiology Christodoulos Stefanadis, is lacking seriousness, Tarantilis added.
"It was an invitation by a MP, which was accepted by the Prime Minister, for a meal in the open air. They were wearing masks and they took them off only when they ate. By not contributing constructively to the country's struggle to combat the consequences of the pandemic, the main opposition is making inaccurate descriptions, while at the same time calling for marches and rallies undermining the effectiveness of the health measures. It did the same during the prime minister's visit to Ikaria," the government spokesman underlined and added:
"As the national vaccination programme is unfolding, laying the foundations for overcoming the health crisis in the coming months, which requires the support and demonstration of unity and solidarity from all political parties, Mr. Tsipras chooses the tactics of division and disorientation."
