Four migrants dead, 90 stranded on islet after sailboat runs aground

According to initial reports, migrants called the European emergency number 112 for help, and said there were nearly 100 passengers on the boat.

The Greek Coast Guard found nearly 90 people on the islet of Prassonissi, while another vessel found the four bodies. The boat appears to have left the coast of Turkey, headed to Italy.

Assisting in the transfer of migrants are a total of two open-sea Coast Guard vessels, two dinghies of the Port Authority and a helicopter of the Hellenic Navy. Winds in the area registered 5 on the Beaufort scale.
