New fire burning pine forest in northern Zakynthos
A new fire broke out in Zakynthos on Tuesday and is burning a pine forest near the village of Orthonies, in the northern part of the island, the fire department said.
Twenty-three firefighters with ten vehicles and three water tankers are battling the flames under difficult circumstances. The fire has destroyed several electricity pylons causing power cuts to the Orthonies and nearby village of Maries. No houses are at risk.
