ANEL leader Panos Kammenos ousts rebel MP from party's parliamentary group
In a letter to the parliament president on Saturday, the head of the ruling coalition's junior member, Independent Greeks (ANEL) party leader Panos Kammenos, announced that he was expelling the MP for Piraeus Dimitris Kammenos from the ANEL parliamentary group.
The move came just minutes after the MP had voted 'aye' in a New Democracy censure motion against the government, adding his vote to that of the opposition.
According to ANA sources, the ANEL party will set in motion procedures to also remove the MP from the position of parliament vice-president.
