Suspected trafficker, irregular migrants arrested following pursuit on Egnatia Odos
A police pursuit to arrest a suspected migrant trafficker took place on Sunday night near Thessaloniki. A truck driver moving on the Egnatia Odos ignored police's signal to stop, accelerated and crashed into a passing car.
The truck driver abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but was eventually arrested.
In his truck, the 21-year old driver from Morocco was transporting 16 foreign nationals from Iraq, Palestine and Syria, who had illegally entered Greece via the Greek-Turkish border.
