Lekkas: Concern about the increasing complexity of risks
"Given the complexity of the closed sea and the high population density on the coast, the impact can be large-scale," Professor Efthimios Lekkas, president of the Earthquake Planning and Protection Organization, said on Sunday referring to the tsunami that hit Indonesia.

In a statement, he explained that "the complexity of the phenomenon and the new forms of risk pose a complex framework of risk and disaster that requires immediate scientific response and research at a global level."
There are fears that the intense geodynamic processes in the area can trigger huge underwater landslides resulting in the generation of tsunami with a wave height of tens of meters, he added.
