Power restored to lower-income homes for the holidays, following special state funding
Low-income households were reconnected to the power grid as of Saturday, December 22, the network operator (DEDDIE) said on Thursday, following additional funding provided by the Ministry of Environment and Energy for the purpose.
The Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator said in an announcement that the Ministry provided an additional 3.2 million euros in the special fund for reconnections, which affected an additional 880 households that have been unable to meet their power bill obligations so far. The restoration of power happened soon after the funds were provided, in order to provide electricity to families for the holidays.
A total of over 3,800 families have benefitted from the special measures so far.
