Police examining CCTV and other evidence in Kolonaki bomb blast case
The police investigation into the bomb set outside the Church of St. Dionysios in Kolonaki, central Athens was continuing with examination of footage from neighbourhood security cameras on Friday, as the counter-terrorism squad sought for evidence that will help identify the culprits.
Meanwhile, police forensics experts were searching for possible traces of DNA left on the incendiary device, which consisted of two canisters of flammable liquid connected to wires and a timer placed inside a shoebox.
The device was left at the entrance of the church on Thursday morning and exploded at 7:10, injuring a police officer and, less seriously, a church sexton. The injured policeman was out of danger but still being treated at the 401 General Military Hospital in Athens on Friday, while the sexton was discharged from Evangelismos Hospital after receiving first aid.
