Acropolis lightning rod system under repair
The lightning rod system which protects the Acropolis archaeological site will be fully repaired, the Ministry of Culture & Sports said on Friday, following a lightning strike on April 17 that injured two guards and two tourists, and led to a shutdown.
The announcement also says that the system of conductors at the Acropolis lightning rod, by the Erechtheion temple, that absorb a lightning strike's electrical current, will also be repaired.
In addition, the Ministry statement said of the two staff members in hospital, one was expected to be released on Friday and the other on Saturday. The two tourists were treated at the hospital and released on April 17.
