Ministry issues order suspending civil service staff changes and holidays ahead of general elections

Hirings and other staff changes in the civil service are suspended and requested holidays revoked ahead of general elections on July 7, the Ministry of Administrative Reform said on Friday.

From June 11 to the swearing-in of the new government, any issuance of orders related to hiring, appointment, transfer, or promotion of personnel is suspended, the Ministry's order said, excepting those signed or published in the Government Gazette before June 11. In addition, all requested time off between June 11 and July 7 is revoked.

The only acceptable time off work is allowed to permanent staff in the public administration, local government, and agencies who need time to travel to their voting districts, as long as these are at least 100 km away from their city of residence. Instances of residents moving between islands will be decided on a case-by-case basis, the Ministry's decision said.
