Pierrakakis: 'We can reach adequate immunization as more citizens are inoculated'
The opening of coronavirus inoculation appointments for citizens aged 30-39 (April 27) is a step closer to everyone being able to get vaccinated "quickly and safely," said Digital Governance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis in an interview to Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA) on Saturday.
Announcements are to follow in a few days concerning the vaccination of age groups 40-44 and 45-49, added the minister. As more citizens participate in the unfolding inoculation program, he stressed, "we can reach higher inoculation rates than the European average, which would lead to adequate immunization."
Additionally, the government’s online portal, gov.gr, is about to be enriched with a new platform named "Know Your Customer", which will allow bank customers to submit selected documents and information directly to their bank, securely.
Commenting on his election to the presidency of Global Strategy Group (GSG), of the Organization for Economic Co-operation & Development (OECD), which was announced on Tuesday, the minister noted that it is a recognition of the country's progress in terms of digital transformation and the positive impact this had in managing the pandemic, and in addressing challenges "with an innovative approach."
"In less than ten days, Greece is taking a great step towards lifting pandemic restrictions," Pierrakakis underlined, " in a coordinated manner, safely, as per our plan."
