Peloni: Greece is safe - Organised crime a seperate problem which exists and must be combatted

"The meeting of Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, as well as the meeting of Cavusoglu with the Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias on Monday, took place in a positive climate and the will to promote a positive agenda was confirmed. Obviously, disagreements with the Turkish side existed and still exist," government spokesperson Aristotelia Peloni said on Tuesday in an interview with OPEN TV.

"Regarding the talks held in the foreign ministry, there has been an honest dialogue on all issues. In any case, I think we are on a better path. The Greek side has said many times that our will is the de-escalation and gradual progress in bilateral relations. We believe that the positive agenda, the 25 points, which have been initially agreed, is a very positive first vehicle in this direction," she added.

Referring to organized crime, she said that Greece is, was and remains a safe country. "It has one of the lowest homicide and robbery rates in the entire European Union, and this is proven by statistics. There is policing in the neighborhoods, patrols are held and are further strengthened," Peloni stated.

However, she added, that organised crime is a separate problem that obviously exists and needs to be combatted.
