FM Dendias: We have diametrically opposed views with Turkey

Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias clarified in an interview with the Sunday newspaper Parapolitika that " with Turkey we have diametrically opposed views on very important issues "underlining that this was reaffirmed and during Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu's recent visit to Athens.

"I set all the issues that negatively affect our relations with Turkey" he said adding that it was reaffirmed that Greece remains adamant on its position which is based on the international law.

However, Dendias said that there were some tangible results from Cavusoglu's visit in Athens as the mutual recognition of the vaccination certificates while a list of programmes of economic cooperation was approved. Additionally, Turkey listened to Greece's concerns regarding the under- construction nuclear energy plant in Akkuyu.

Additionally, during Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis' meeting with Cavusoglu it was agreed a meeting at leadership level to take place on the sidelines of the NATO Summit.

On the exploratory talks with Turkey, Dendias said that his Turkish counterpart committed to propose dates for the 63rd round of the exploratory talks that will be held Turkey.
