SYRIZA: Mitsotakis has 'lost his credibility' over vaccination issue
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis "has failed, he has lost his credibility, citizens do not listen to him and he is simply trying to survive by sowing division," SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance said on Monday following a public address by the premier urging more people to get vaccinated.
In its statement, the main opposition party said that "Mr. Mitsotakis appeared for the nth time unrepentant, divisive, unreliable and out of place and time, congratulating himself for handling the pandemic."
Commenting on the government's goal for 70% of vaccination in the general population by the end of the summer, the party said the same goal was set for June, and the premier's amending of the date insults the public's memory.
The obligatory vaccination of health sector staff, it said, was a necessary measure, but Mitsotakis placed "passed the responsibility for his failure to store owners," when the 45% rate of vaccinations "is to a large degree his own fault."
