Kikilias: 'We understand the difficulties society is going through and we must support it'
"We understand the difficulties that society is going through and we must support it more than ever," stated Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias in an interview with public broadcaster ERT on Thursday.
"It is the Greek state's duty to monitor any increases by enterprises and I am very happy that Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Wednesday in parliament that all (enterprises) will be checked and any excessive profits of major energy providers will be taxed at 90 percent", he added.
Focusing on the tourism economy, he said that "we are struggling every day to bring as many tourists and travellers as possible and high-income visitors to Greece."
He also said that the government is examining ways to support the travel offices and the hotels that focus on the Russian and Ukrainian tourist market. Our major industry, the tourism is the main sources of revenues for 2022 for the Greek economy. The Russian market represents only a small part of the Greek tourist product.
