AADE: On-time payment of vehicle taxes reaches 88%

Approximately 790,000 vehicle owners did not pay their 2026 traffic taxes on time and are now facing new staggered surcharges, according to data released by the Independent Public Revenue Authority (AADE). The deadline for payment expired on 31 December 2025. According to the AADE, out of a total of 6.75 million vehicles, traffic taxes for 5.94 million were paid on time, equivalent to 88 per cent. This figure is in line with the compliance rate recorded for the 2025 traffic taxes. Meanwhile, 208,976 vehicles were immobilised.
