The shooting stars , aproximately 20 per hour will enter the Earth's atmosphere with a speed of 50km/hour. Lyrides sometimes create very bright shooting stars with long tails, visible for some second in the night sky.
This meteor rain, which was first recorded in 687 BC from Chineses, seems to come from the constellation of Lyra. But the actual source is the comet "Thatcher", discovered in 1861 by an American A. Thatcher.
