Malaysia: Investigations for the missing aircraft will continue

The Malaysian Minister Council approved yesterday the appointment of an independent international team to investigate the disappearance of flight MI370 of Malaysians Airways, as revealed by the country's provisional Transport Minister Hishammuddin Hussein.

Malaysia: Investigations for the missing aircraft will continue

"The basic purpose of the international research team is to evaluate, investigate and clarify the real cause of the accident so we could avoid similar accidents in the future" he noted talking with reporters in Kuala Lumpur. The minister added that the Malaysian government had contacts with the state oil company Petronas and other entities, which he didn't name, as all intend to extend the investigations in the sea of the southern Indian Ocean.

"I can indeed confirm that we are increasing the resources available for research into the seabed" he added. According to Malaysian officials, the experts of this independent investigation team will be appointed next week and the investigation can begin a week later. "It is imperative for the government to form an independent team of researchers, which is not only capable and transparent, but it is also extremely reliable" Hishammuddin commented.

The Civil Aviation of Malaysia will lead the research conducted under the rules of the UN, sources told Reuters. The investigating authorities would need to "reorganize and renew their strategy, if they don't find anything in the current area of research" the Malaysian Transport Minister added stressing that the investigation "will continue". Besides Australia and Malaysia pledged to continue their investigations until the mystery surrounding his disappearance for seven weeks time is solved. However, the authorities were forced for a second day to suspend their investigations from air because of bad weather that prevails in the region, while the robotic submersible, which examines the seabed trying to locate the wreckage of the Boeing 777 of Malaysia Airlines, is nearing the end of the first full mission without having found any evidence.

In line with the Minister of Transport of Malaysia, the Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott said earlier that the strategy followed in the surveys will be changed if the examination of the bathyscaphe the U.S. Navy fails to find any trace of the plane, which disappeared March 8 with 239 occupants. "We will review the investigation, but we won't stop until we've done everything to solve this mystery" he said and added "The only way there is to reach the goal is to continue to investigate the possible crash zone until we find something or until we have searched as thoroughly as current human genius permits".

About the authorities suspending investigations of air for the second straight day due to heavy rains, fog and rough seas in the area of research, the authorities added: "The current weather conditions cause rough seas, poor visibility and make inquiries from air ineffective and possibly dangerous", while they also mentioned that 12 ships will continue to assist in the operation. Also it was announced that once the Bluefin-21 completes its current mission, it will be used it in other areas, which have not been clarified yet.

The Australian authorities reported earlier today that unknown material, which washed up on the coast of Western Australia, is examined for a possible relationship with the Malaysian aircraft. On April 4, some evidence was found that was believed to have something to do with the missing aircraft, as they detected signals that can be derived from the black boxes of the plane. At the moment the authorities haven't given any description for the material identified and Malays officials said they have yet to verify this information.

At the same time in a sign of escalating desperation of relatives of missing people who seek answers, a group published a letter to the minister Hishammuddin, in which they call for an investigation of old information by the government about the aircraft landing in Kandahar, Afghanistan. "It's time for the government to start thinking without restrictions with the investigating and reviewing of all the cases, new and old" was written on Facebook.
