“The government of the Left will claim the German allowances”

With a wreath at the monument for the fallen from the Nazi in Viannos, from where he announced the nomination of Manolis Glezos for the EU Parliament, Alexis Tsipras completed his tour in Crete. "It's our duty to pay homage and our duty to remember. To not forget that if today the European people live in freedom and have beat the specter of intolerance, the black ideology of fascism, it's because some gave their lives and thousands were those who gave their lives in our country" the leader of the main opposition said. Noting that 70 years later "the historical request for physical rehabilitation of the German side of the war reparations remains unfulfilled" Tsipras also stressed that the government of the Left "will claim this unfulfilled debt" and announced that "we decided to grace the European ballot of SYRIZA with Manolis Glezos, the great face of National Resistance, the tireless fighter for social justice".

As he stated, this decision signifies two things: "First, we won't face this election as a simple confrontation, but as a showdown with particularly patriotic and national character" and urged all Greek men and women "regardless of whether they ever found themselves in the Left or if they believe in the ideas of the Left to strengthen SYRIZA in order to put an end to this disaster experienced by our country in the last four years by the governments of the memorandum: "A great and overwhelming victory of SYRIZA is needed to get ahead, to leave the government of disaster, do away with the memoranda of barbarism". The second theme that marks this decision is that SYRIZA and Glezos "want to ask the big question of the restoration of this historical debt towards the Greek people at European level and within the European Parliament, where Glezos, as the oldest MEP, if elected by the vote of our people, will chair the first meeting, raising the issue of German reparations and the loan holder".

"We will make our promises happen" he assured and added: "This is said from the history of the struggles of the Greek people. The history of the struggles of patriots here in Crete and anywhere else in the country, sacrifices and struggles that remain unfulfilled. We will fight for this historical debt and we believe that with the help of our people and with your help we will achieve our goal".
