Kasidiaris: Why I went to church of the Hellenic Police
The candidate for Mayor of Athens explains by Newsbomb.gr why he chose to visit the Church of the Archangels for Easter.
Ilias Kasidiaris explains why he attended this church for the Resurrection liturgy, which is located at the Ministry of Public Order, near the Police Academy and stresses that there was indeed an upset when he arrived. "Much has been said and heard, but I must say that I chose this church because there, in the 7th arrondissement, is my constituency. I'm a candidate for Mayor of Athens and this area is also very close to my political office, as to the headquarters of my party" he mentioned and added: "In the same way, the previous day I went to other churches of the City of Athens".
The member of the Golden Dawn makes it clear that his choice no connection with the police, but confirms that there was a relative inconvenience that didn't continue: "The truth is that when there was mobility on the part of police from officers who attended the church. It's next to the academy, so you could realize that several policemen attended. But I honestly don't know if the fuss was about me. I don't consider myself a terrorist. After what happened, everything against me collapsed like a house of cards, so I don't think they consider me a terrorist".
Kasidiaris admitted he was impressed by the Chief of the Hellenic Police who left from the church: "But again I tell you I don't know if the man left because I went. Maybe he had something else to do. I certainly wouldn't have any problem to wish him every success in his new duties". However he remained unruffled throughout the course and had the opportunity to chat with several residents with whom he exchanged greetings in a very warm climate.
