On 18 December, the final decision on the hike of electricity

In February 2014, the Fourth Section by a majority of 3 to 2 deemed unconstitutional and contrary to the European Convention on Human Rights the "hike" levied through electricity bills. The Department referred the final judgment of the whole matter to the plenary of the Court of Cassation. Consumer organizations and the lawyer and candidate member of the European Parliament, Georgios Kokkas, have appealed against the imposition of the emergency tax through the Supreme Court.
