PM Tsipras to Star TV: Syriza plans the tax reductions ND will not do

Accusing main opposition leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis of "having no intention to lower taxes if he wins elections," Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras told Star TV on Tuesday that he believed the general elections on July 7 could overturn the European election results and keep SYRIZA in power.

"We have spoken of abolishing the solidarity fee for (annual) incomes of up to 20,000 euros and their radical cut thereafter, we have spoken of reducing the tax rate from 22 pct to 20 pct in income tax, we have spoken of further reductions in VA, and of the average VAT rate of 13 pct to 11 pct, and of the real estate tax by 20 pct," Tsipras said, comparing his government's plans to New Democracy's (ND).

Tsipras attacked Movement for Change (KINAL), "a bad copy of a democratic party", for supporting a coalition government with Mitsotakis. SYRIZA, on the other hand, "aims to become the backbone of a great majority of democratic and progressive movement." He also announced the party would collaborate with the Ecologists-Greens at the general elections on July 7.

Greece's position in the world has become more prominent especially after the Prespes Agreement, and the EU is supporting Greece against Turkey's provocations.

Asserting that he is "going to battle to win", Tsipras called on the Greek people to vote with the future of the country in mind. "Not for Tsipras or Mitsotakis or for Syriza or ND, but for their life," he said.
