New government sworn in on Tuesday

The members of the new government were sworn in by Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Ieronymos before the President of Hellenic Republic Prokopios Pavlopoulos and in the presence of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the Presidential Mansion on Tuesday.

A climate of optimism prevailed in statements made by new cabinet ministers on Tuesday, after taking an oath of office at the Presidential Mansion.

New Development Minister Adonis Georgiadis promised that people "will not believe" how quickly the government will move forward: "The prime minister's instructions are to do everything very quickly."

Environment and Energy Minister Costis Hatzidakis, on his part, promised "Gravity, modesty, speed for a policy with results."

Tourism Minister Harris Theoharis noted that "Tourism is the heavy industry that must contribute to growth."

Makis Voridis, Minister of Rural Development and Food, said: "It is a day of great political change. We have a sense of responsibility to fulfill the mandate of the Greek people."

According to Shipping Minister Yiannis Plakiotakis "shipping is a national affair. Greece has a role in global affairs."
