Hundreds of migrants and refugees rescued around eastern Aegean islands
The Greek coastguard has rescued 256 migrants and refugees in five separate search-and-rescue operations in seas around the island of Lesvos in the past 24 hours, authorities announced on Tuesday morning.

During the same period, 223 migrants and refugees arrived at the shores of eastern Aegean islands in dinghies, with the coast guard reporting seven incidents where migrants were collected on the islands of Lesvos, Chios, Samos and Farmakonissi.
