Man rescued after falling onto tracks at Thissio Station

A man that fell onto the tracks at Thissio Station on Tuesday morning, on the Piraeus-Kifissia electric railway or line 1 on the Athens metro system, was rescued some minutes later in an operation that involved nine fire men and three fire brigade vehicles.

The man, aged 60, was taken to hospital in an ambulance as a precaution.

Normal services on line 1 were temporarily interrupted, with trains only running between Piraeus and Tavros stations and from Omonia to Kifissia, but were soon afterwards restored along the entire length of the line.
