Four Greek F-16s escorted U.S. B-52 on flight in FIRs of Athens and Skopje
The Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDS) on Saturday announced that four Greek F-16 BLK 52+ aircraft escorted a U.S. strategic B-52 bomber plane during the activity Allied Sky on Friday, "illustrating the strong allies bonds of the NATO member-states."
The Greek fighters escorted the U.S. B-52 on a flight in areas within the Athens Flight Information Region (FIR), starting their mission south of the island of Chios and flying above the Cyclades islands, the Peloponnese, the Ionian islands, Epirus, Central Greece, Evia, Sporades and Macedonia.
In the context of the agreement with the Republic of North Macedonia to patrol its skies, the Greek aircraft also escorted the U.S. bomber during a flight into North Macedonia's FIR as well.
