Kikilias: The vast majority of citizens understand the importance of protection measures
Health Minister Vassilis Kikilias said on Monday in an interview with Parapolitika radio that "the vast majority of our fellow citizens - and I thank them very much - are disciplined, support their families and understand what it means to protect our grandparents, our parents, the vulnerable groups and ourselves.
"And they do it with comparatively multiple and better results than anywhere else," he added.
"Beyond that, there are control mechanisms that have proven that they can work in our country. This is not punitive, it is protective for the Greek society. The percentage of those who follow the measures is huge compared to those who are not interested or do not have the appropriate knowledge or believe that a human life is not worth it. There are state public health laws and the Penal Code. We first want to advise, we want to inform, we want to support. Then, if and if this is not possible, the government, through the Civil Protection, proceeds with specific measures and, of course, the Ministry of Civil Protection with appropriate moves and decisions such as to ensure public health."
Asked about the safety of a possible coronavirus vaccine, the minister pointed out: "The European Commission coordinates, organizes, signs contracts with countries and gives 2.7 billion euros for the vaccination of European citizens. It is clear that in none of the cases will Europe use vaccines without being tested, without being scientifically tested, without being approved."
