End of free meals in schools a 'fiasco', SYRIZA says

"The 'efficient state' of New Democracy and [Prime Minister Kyriakos] Mitsotakis has managed to do this as well: as of yesterday, the distribution of 185,000 school meals to pupils throughout the country has stopped," main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance noted in an announcement on Tuesday.

The government had not only failed to complete a planned expansion of the school meals programme to 600,000 pupils per day but did not even ensure the timely completion of the competition to maintain the 185,000 already being distributed, the party added.

Calling this outcome a "fiasco" and noting ND's original opposition to the scheme, SYRIZA asked whether anyone in the government will be taking responsibility for it.
