Gennimata: Road to addressing consequences of climate change is 'not politically neutral'
Opposition Movement for Change (KINAL) leader Fofi Gennimata said there was an immediate need for all parliamentary parties to reach a consensus on a national framework for green growth that will be outlined in a new climate law, while speaking in parliament on Tuesday.
Gennimata said that her party's proposal aims at the formation of a new Green Social Contract, at the centre of which will be the 'production of green technologies in Greece to create new jobs".
"There are two roads before us: either we forge a new Green Social Contract with the citizens or else the much-vaunted "Green Deal" will give way to yet another outdated economic deal of clientelism and conservatism."
Gennimata said that the project is immense, as the future after the pandemic must be sustainable and fair for all.
Finally, she underlined that the road to address the consequences of climate change is not politically neutral and pointed to legislative initiatives taken and established by PASOK governments.
