SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras "rejoices in every difficulty," government spokesperson Aristotelia Peloni charged on Saturday, following the party leader's comments on emergency measures for the pandemic on Mykonos.
The main opposition leader "is a serial liar, always giving Greece a bad name abroad," Peloni said, adding that Mykonos is not under lockdown, but entertainment has been curtailed. (The government imposed a temporary ban on music and on night movement between 1:00 am and 6:00 am after a sudden spike in infections.)
Peloni added that "the tourist product of the country is not a free-for-all without any health rules; it's primarily about the safety of visitors and residents alike. That's the message Greece is conveying."
