Fire in region of Megalopolis, village warned to be ready for possible evacuation
A wildfire is burning at a forested area in Kalivia, Megalopolis municipality, in southern Greece on Tuesday.
Working to put it out are 85 firefighters with 21 fire trucks, 5 ground teams, 6 firefighting airplanes and 2 helicopters, in addition to local water trucks and earth-moving machinery.
A message (SMS) sent through the 112 European emergency number has meawhile alerted residents of Leontari village in the same municipality of Arcadia to be prepared for the possibility of evacuation.
