Marinakis: Our goal is to make everyday transportation safer

"Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, at the invitation of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, will participate today in the 4th Ukraine-SE Europe summit," government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis said at the press briefing on Wednesday.

Marinakis referred to the new Road Traffic Code, which is expected to be voted on by the Plenary Session of the Parliament, noting that the aim is to address and prevent very dangerous violations which are associated with a large number of accidents.

"By establishing a scale of penalties, stricter consequences will be imposed on repeat offenders who make serious offenses systematically, as well as increased sanctions in the event that the offender is involved in an accident," he stressed.

He underlined that "our goal is to make daily travel increasingly safer, for drivers, for passengers, for cyclists and obviously for pedestrians, who are often the innocent victims."

Another topic was the 145% increase in new applications to the out-of-court mechanism which reached 10,870 in May.

Marinakis also referred to the "home distribution of EOPYY medicines, which will begin on June 16, as announced by the prime minister."

He explained that "the home delivery service for high-cost medicines was launched on a pilot basis last spring, serving patients suffering from specific illnesses, and is now entering the phase of universal implementation, covering all patients who meet the criteria."
