"We are worried by this situation, obviously. It is an extremely difficult state of affairs at global level," stated government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis in an interview with SKAI TV on Tuesday. "One more crisis is being added to all the previous ones — none of which even the most imaginative scriptwriter could have predicted five or six years ago. The sequence of events is remarkable. That said, I believe our country is currently at the strongest point it has been in recent decades. And that is the other side of the coin. That is, we are being called upon—as a member state of the European Union—to face yet another very difficult situation, very close to us, from the best possible position on all fronts: diplomatically and militarily. There is no reason for Greece to worry at the moment, if that’s your question. There is no cause for concern. However, we are certainly striving for de-escalation using every available means, among them via communication between the Greek prime minister and a number of leaders from the broader region—including the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. And certainly, the last thing we want is this whole discussion about Iranian nuclear weapons," he stressed.
