112 message sent to residents of Leptopoda, Chios
Residents of the settlement of Leptopoda in northern Chios are on standby for immediate evacuation following a warning sent earlier on Monday via the 112 emergency number, as a wildfire — the fifth since yesterday — continued to burn in the area since 10:00 in the morning.
According to the Fire Department, the flames are near the settlement, which is not currently under direct threat. However, northern winds are blowing at 4–5 Beaufort, with gusts reaching 6–7 Beaufort, prompting authorities to advise residents to remain ready to evacuate if necessary. The 112 alert message reads: "Wildfire in the area of Leptopoda, Regional Unit of Chios. Remain on alert and follow the instructions of the authorities."
