Where is George heading?

The message to "papandreikous" and how will Venizelos react?

Where is George heading?

Rattles inside PASOK and Democratic Left are caused once more by the former Prime Minister George Papandreou. He may for some time been vanished abroad, but it seems that Papandreou has decided to return to the politics of the country. His aim isn't yet clear and his next moves appear puzzling. With memories still fresh of his challenging, by many, absence from the conference of the "Olive Tree" and the anger he caused to Venizelos in the Parliament, the former prime minister came to again rock the waters of Trikoupis. His decision to attend and to speak on Monday at the book launch by of member Marilena Koppa, who recently left PASOK and joined Democratic Left, in the presence of Kouvelis has caused embarrassment, frustration and questions within PASOK, as members believe he undermined the project of "Olive".

In Trikoupis they choose to keep "a low profile". It's significant that Newsbomb.gr contacted party leaders trying to elicit any comment on the matter, but no one wanted to noting that the Euro elections and the relevant battle for the greatest possible number of members is more important at the moment. Only Ioannina member, Michalis Kassis, made statements against Papandreou, saying: "He does great damage to PASOK. Rather than support the Olive, half of his ministers are in Democratic Left. The only thing left is for him to declare that he supports Democratic Left".

"Comedies"
From the side of the former Prime Minister it's noted that Papandreou had argued from the outset against the exercise of Olive, as he argued that substantially PASOK is translated into component of this policy cooperation. It must be also assumed that after the Euro elections, any outcome will be assessed and if it is negative, sharp criticism to the political leadership of PASOK will appear. At present acolytes characterize funny the scenarios that want the former prime minister supporting Fotis Kouvelis, but confirm keen interest in the processes and movements, which are made the wider center-left.

Where is he heading?
The actions of the former prime minister may be surprising to some, however those well aware of the happenings in PASOK were convinced that Papandreou would return. His decision to go to the presentation of the book of Koppa has many symbolisms as it manifested one month before the Euro elections. In substance and regardless of what he will say on Monday, he indirectly sends a message to papandreikous, because Koppa belongs to the executives, which clashed with Venizelos. Alongside he takes new distances from President Venizelos questioning his choice on the "Olive" and sends a message to traditional PASOK voters.

The fact that he won't support the "Olive" confirms those who say he will have a role immediately after the Euro elections, as he considers that the result for Trikoupis will be negative. Papandreou and Kouvelis agree on need for a reconstruction of the center-left, which in any case cannot continue to be "the tail of New Democracy". The balances in the center-left are particularly thin and it's assumed that there will be a reaction on the part of the Venizelos and his associates, who are expected to push the former prime minister to clarify his intentions. If Papandreou decided to get "revenge", then developments will be gushing and no one can predict things to come.

"Fear from all sides"
Partners of the President of PASOK are warning indirectly that Venizelos "is holding" Papandreou's PASOK finances. For some time Venizelos has sent... greetings to the former prime minister that if he continues the intraparty opposition he will then reveal the economics of PASOK since 2007. Papandreou for his part doesn't seem to be fazed as he considers that such a "discharge" from the President of PASOK will alienate even more voters, since for the sake of his... chair, he will ridicule an entire party and its history. At the same time, associates of the former Prime Minister send a message to "venizelikous" that if the President PASOK grabs and pull the rope on the finances of the party, then Papandreou will reset the the case of submarines ... longstanding demand of SYRIZA.
