WTTC president Guevara praises strong growth of Greece's tourism

She stressed that it is striking that, at a time when global tourism growth is at 4.6 pct, Greece will have a 6 pct growth rate in 2017. "Greece is a pioneer in the development of tourism," she stressed.

Asked about the reasons of the current Greek tourism boom, she estimated that this is due to several factors. As far as the country's external environment is concerned, she noted a rise in the number air travelers as the Millenials' generation invested in experiences and travel at the same time as an estimated 240 million Asian travelers entered the travel map.

Focusing on Greece, she noted that the extension of the tourist period and the 'Greece – A 365-day Destination' campaign have also contributed.
