Police officer arrested after Nikaia incident suspended

The case came to light when a DIAS police team responding to a call to the police emergency number in the early hours of Thursday discovered the suspected bound and savagely beaten by a group of Pakistanis in an apartment in Nikaia.

The police internal affairs department was called in after the 34-year-old's story raised suspicions and he was charged with robbery and arrested. An official internal inquiry into the police officer, serving with the Attica Security Police, is underway.
